Hawk in the Rowan (The Rowan Harbor Cycle #4)Hawk in the Rowan by Sam Burns
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a really huge fan of this series and the characters. The unique way how it is presented – with the sequencial storytelling, the focus on the single pairings but in change – is not only capturing the reader’s attention, it gives the series a better width, it allows the author to create a huge universe, a world with a lot of events, characters and connections.

We are focussing on Wade and Devon again. This time they are – again – threaten to rescue fellow towns people, and Devon is confronted to think about a lot of things he actually was afraid of.

Next to the thrilling plot and the dramatic events with a lots of twists, full of suspense and thrill, there’s a huge focus on the relationship of Devon and Wade. I was really pleased by the way how Devon is forced to reflect a few things. How he understands his relationship with Wade better; he’s confronted with his fears and worries and the way it is displayed is more than realistic.
With these deep thoughts the characters have we get a deeper insight of them, see how they work, what they expect and fear.

I also love the knit-tight community and the way how even the side character are more developed and how well they are fleshed out. 🙂

This series is a great joy to read, definitely one of those you really must read in order, otherwise the spoiler are enormous, and second – it would also dismiss the author’s writing and the way the events are planned. I can’t wait to read the next 5 books. :3 Next one deals again with Jesse and Sean; I can’t wait to see what’s coming for them next. :3

Full 5 out of 5 stars for this book. 😉

Blurb

Devon Murphy has been back in Rowan Harbor for three months. He’s taken on a host of new responsibilities, and is in a serious relationship for the first time in his life. He loves the town and its inhabitants, but it’s starting to feel like too much for the former drifter.
Now there’s a storm on the horizon, and it doesn’t seem like things are going to slow down and let him catch his breath. A blizzard is brewing, and three people have gone missing in the woods south of town. Devon needs to find them before time runs out.
This book is the fourth of nine in The Rowan Harbor Cycle, not a standalone. Devon and Wade will return in book seven for their HEA.

Author bio – Sam Burns

Sam wrote her first fantasy epic with her best friend when she was ten. Like almost any epic fiction written by a ten year old, it was awful. She likes to think she’s improved since then, if only because she has better handwriting now.

If she’s not writing, she’s almost certainly either reading or lost down a wikipedia rabbit hole while pretending to research for a novel.
