[News] Update regarding author Santino Hassell & (further) reviews on my blog (update 3/13/18)

In regards to the latest updates about the author Santino Hassell I decided to take all of my reviews of their single written books down from my blog and won’t review further books in future.

As most people in the community have probably heard about the author Santino Hassell (hereafter used pronouns are “they/their”) is no longer represented by their agent, their publisher Riptide Publishing and Dreamspinner Press terminated all contracts and further releases are canceled (and refunds of pre-ordered titles will be made), the books aren’t available at any retailers anymore or will be in short.

Same goes for the co-authored projects with author Piper Vaughn (Bishop’s Move) and Santino Hassell’s story in the upcoming anthology Exposed is deleted from it.

So far, co-author Megan Erickson didn’t say any particular about future of the Cyber Love Series, it can highly be expected there won’t be further books (a “second season” was planned).
Another publisher’s statement, from Berkley (Penguin/ Randomhouse), is still awaited.

[Edit 3/12/18]: Megan Erickson also posted her statement on her website and the already published books in the Cyber Love series will be removed as well. The link to the statement is added to the list below. It goes without saying I will remove the reviews to this series as well.

[Edit 3/13/18] Berkley (Penguin / Randomhouse) also announced on Twitter they terminated the contracts with the author.

Links to the official statements which were made:

Riptide Publishing (on their website)
Dreamspinner Press (on Twitter)
Piper Vaughn about Bishop’s Move (on Twitter & Facebook)
Tamsen Parker about the Exposed anthology (one of the authors, the general statement is the same for all other individual authors; on Facebook & Twitter)
Megan Erickson about the Cyber Love series (on her website)
Berkley (Penguin/ Randomhouse) (on Twitter)

The Santino Hassell’s own statement & their Patreon account with posts about it (access only available if you are a $5 member).
[Edit 3/12/18]: They set it now up to $100 (!!) supporters. This is truly shady…
If you wish to report the Patreon account for violating the use of terms, there is a helpful Twitter thread here.

As an active and avid blogger in the LGBTQIAP+ community I decided to take all of their reviews from my blog and my Goodreads reviews will be edited with a link to this statement.
I still keep the reviews of the co-written books in the Cyber Love series with Megan Erickson on my site as well as posts where I listed, recommended or gushed about the books in the past.

There won’t be any reviews of any upcoming books by the author if they ever publish again.

If you have questions please see my contact information and hit me with a message or comment on this post.

A few personal words below:

Dieser Beitrag wird regelmäßig und häufig (so oft, wie es geht ;)) geupdated, Änderungen werden entsprechend gekennzeichnet. 🙂

[Feature]#LoveAroundTheWorld-Challenge

This challenge got my attention when I was going through my twitter timeline and saw that Laberladen, a German bookblogger participated. My interest was picked. 🙂

But what is this LoveAroundTheWorld Challenge?

Saskia from Life With Saskia (the blog is in German, so are the posts) started this challenge and the rules seem easy:

  • Write a post about the topic love/spread love; this means you can dedicate the post to a special person, write about any topic which is connected to “love”, you can write to a beloved person (directly, in a letter) or just spread your love (you can hug others, you can do something nice for your people around you etc.) and tell about it.
  • Rule #1 is only: do somerthing which is connected to love
  • at the end of the post you tag 7 people but it’s up to you how many you chose. 🙂 those who are tagged are welcome to leave a small comment (with their blog post)
  • For those who don’t blog: you can participate also; do sth. nice for people around you, write old friends, be helpful to neighbours or simply have a smile for everybody you meet, doesn’t matter if it’s in the office, the subway/tram/train or in the supermarket 🙂
  • If you like you can leave a comment
  • But: no stress, don’t feel forced to participate; but if you like, tell about your experience and spread love by yourself

The rules are set. Happy reading with my post. 🙂

I was a bit MIA…

My fellow readers,

I know I neglected my blog badly the last few days and haven’t posted a long time BUT, I had an excuse. xD

[Opinion] What is literature? A small statement as an answer to…

Today I want to share a post from my personal facebook timeline (which I made public)
about an article from a german media site/broadcaster which made waves in the manga community.

The articles can be read here (all articles are german only):

Original article from Mister Otte @SWR
Official statement from the Leipzig bookfair
an article as an answer to the original article by Mr. Otte

I not only wrote about the article itself I also asked myself: what is literature?
Or at least I wrote about how I know the term, how I explore the term.
Maybe people disagree with me and have another opinion. But maybe people think it is worth to read my opinion about it. Share your opinion if you like. 🙂 It’s very appreciated. 🙂

A few updates… small changes. ;)

My lovely reader,

some of you might have noticed it so far but I wrote my first “larger” manga review for this blog. *happy dance*
(A former entry was dedicated to Sternensammler, written in english.)

What does it mean? For those who worry: no, I don’t neglect my gay romance titles. They will be still the major part of my blog.  I will only add manga review to my range of reviews to enlarge the variety.

I wish you a Happy New Year.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Catching up some entries – update

My dear follower,

sorry for the delay of some posts, for the silence on the blog and the lack of interaction. The blog is NOT dead, of course not but I was so busy the last 2 weeks I had trouble to catch up the deadlines a bit and the daily things exhausted me… Anyway. No need to be sad. 😀

I wanted to inform you that I TRY to write a few reviews over the holiday, maybe tomorrowe there will be the reviews I have a delay for.

I also will do a few editorial things and organize new entries for 2017. I plan to start the year with a few things, one of the biggest plans are having author interviews. I actually got answers of several and have to manage the best time for all who are interested. :3

So please stay tuned. :3

Sorry for the short updates the last days… I hope to fix it for the next year, but I assume since I will have a bit more time. December was helluva month. xD

I wish you all Merry Christmas or the holiday you celebrate, a happy New Year and a great start into 2017.

Kisses & hugs,
Mikku-chan

Delay in a few posts…

My dear follower,

I am so sorry I’m so behind my schedule. I missed a few weekly posts, but those will be posted later (they will have their “original” date, so don’t be confused).

Because of work and heavy shifts I have to delay a few things I wished I have had written a long time ago… ORZ *sigh*

But don’t worry, in the next days there will be a few posts, maybe not that much but there will be. :3

Tomorrow there will be a teaser for the review of the book All in Fear, an anthology by several gay romance authors. :3 So stay tuned and check it out. 😉

Kisses & hugs,
Mikku-chan ❤
