Excerpt

He looked anywhere but at Tim, embarrassment clear in his expression. Before the moment could get awkward—and giving Seb no chance to object—Tim scooped him up, bridal style, and started down the stairs.

Letting out a startled laugh, Seb clung tight to his crutch so it didn’t slip out of his hands. “Twice in one weekend. You’re going to give me a complex.”

Tim bit the inside of his cheek. If Seb knew how much he liked being able to take care of him, how much his wolf liked it, he wouldn’t find it half as amusing or embarrassing. Clearing his throat, he hitched him a little higher, then started down the stairs. “It’s just quicker this way, and I don’t want to make you late for your appointment. We’re running a little behind.”

“Fair enough.”

Not daring to meet Seb’s eyes—their faces were so close together, he didn’t like his chances of not doing something stupid like kissing him—Tim quickly made his way down the steps.

From animosity to searing passion in a lunar cycle… but can their bond survive?

Wolf shifter Nathan Kohl’s pack is his whole life. Arrogant and handsome, he avoids commitment to anything or anyone outside of his pack. He works hard, plays hard, and pursues humans as lovers because there’s little to no chance of him forming a permanent bond. However, when Jared Taylor comes into Nathan’s life, every rule is broken.

After a bad experience, Jared vowed to never get involved with another shifter, no matter how much they got under his skin. Despite being physically attracted to Nathan, who’s all kinds of hot, Jared only sees an arrogant, domineering bastard.

A disastrous case of mistaken identity throws Nathan and Jared together until the next full moon. Forced to spend the next twenty-eight days in close proximity, they can no longer ignore the powerful attraction between them. Passion ignites, and their relationship takes a turn neither of them wanted.

But when the full moon comes, everything might change again.

Shifter stories can be, I admit it, soon a bit boring because of a similar way of telling. This first book in the Regent’s Park Pack series by Annabelle Jacobs was quite different from the most shifter stories I know.
Whereas the story had its well-known aspects it has a nice turn soon at the beginning with the law that’s not allowed to bite humans as a werewolf/shifter. And before we even get right into the story we have the prologue with all the rights – therefore the start was very clear and you could tell this causes a problem.

What I also adored about the book was the fact that with Nathan we still have an arrogant, slightly smug shifter but other than in the shifter books I know he isn’t the main alpha, he is “just” a member in the pack. This fact is quite refreshing to be honest. To have the focus not on the leader of the pack, the one who’s head is in danger.

Still, the tension is there and the whole book is a pageturner. Nathan and Jared are bonded without their will, they can’t deny their attraction but have to deal with a lot of problems. Nathan is obliged to his pack, Jared hates shifters due to his former interaction with one. But both guys have mutual feelings for each other, still wonder how much of this is real.

The events went from hot to thrilling, from sweet to desperate. You wish for the HEA and you are relieved when you end the book. I won’t tell too much but I can say the book keeps it tension right until the last page.

The fact that the first book contains a lot of character you are very intrigued to learn more about give the glimpse in what we can expect in further books. Which leads to my review of the second book. So continue reading, if you like. 🙂

This book gets full 5 ouf of 5 stars. Well done to focus not on the main alpha or the substitute. Refreshing also to have set the location to London, UK, as well as rolling a plot out like this. 🙂

When the last thing you want, is everything you need….

Seb Calloway isn’t interested in shifters. After his best friend bonded with one, he avoids getting involved with them—no matter how hot they are—to prevent the same thing from happening to him. Why take the risk for a few hours of fun?

Tim Walters is the pack doctor. Considered to be mild-mannered and non-threatening by pack standards, he prides himself on being able to stay calm and maintain his control at all times. Desperate for a bond of his own, he knows his interest in Seb is an exercise in futility, but he can’t seem to help himself.

When news emerges that threatens Seb’s safety, he and Tim need to fake a relationship to keep Seb safe. Despite Seb’s refusal to be anything other than friends with benefits, what starts out as pretend, quickly becomes more—for Tim at least. If Tim doesn’t want to end up heartbroken, he needs to prove to Seb that loving a shifter doesn’t mean losing himself.

As I praised the first book, Bitten by Mistake, for, this book also has the focus not on one of the main alpha most shifter books have but on the character you would call minor one in other series. This book is about Jared’s best friend, Sebastian, short Seb and the hot, but very calm – in contrast to Nathan – and collected pack doctor, Tim Walters.

What I really enjoyed of this book was the right continue of the first book but I would also say the book is a pleasure for those who don’t know the first book. Information are given for the reader, but the fast connection to the events of the first book let the reader relish it a bit more.

Where the first book was eventful right from the start the second book has an overly calm start, though I wouldn’t dare it is boring or slow in the events. Quite the contrary, but maybe it is the calm, collected attitude of Tim, despite his longing for Seb, but the book and the character have a different tone.

Right from the start we are invented in a very interesting storyline and again Annabelle Jacobs revealed a pageturning story.

Hot and simmering tension between Seb and Tim is constantly picking up the reader’s interest and it is a delight to see both connected. :3

Again full 5 out of 5 stars for this.
