I’m certainly not totally unbiased when it comes to this book since I’ve got an early copy & had the honor of being part of the beta-process. Nevertheless the book held my attention right from the start when I first heared about the blurb, the vague idea, and the finished product was even more amazing. :3

I loved Jamie right from the start. I loved his fierceness, his attitude. He is a genderfluid YouTube make-up artist, is famous and well in the business. He is known for his critiques about make-up, and flies like a colorful butterfly, never really settling down, always seeking for attention – and loving to be in the spotlight.

He is fascinated by the Instragram male model Tyler, who is a charming, natural guy from the South, presenting his abs together with his adorable dogs. Not only Jamie is swooning over him. Tattoed and well-prepped he is a wet dream for many people.

What I dearly loved about the book was the balance between the chats where Jamie and Tyler get to know each other better and when they actually met. The chats had the necessary natural flowing, nothing was forced or stocked and you could totally go with them. They were charming, sweet and in one word: adorable. When they were together this adorable behaviour was even more visible and palpable.

The parts were balanced by those from Tyler’s and Jamie’s POV, written in first person, the reader got the insights, the struggles and the deeper feelings of the both characters. We also get to know who’s around the two guys. Both Jamie and Tyler have amazing supportive friends; Jamie with Lorelai and Mattie in his corner, and Tyler with Dan. I loved how many times these friends were the voices of reason, the ones who could literally talk honestly with and about them, who don’t fuss or sugercoated things.

The book was hard to put down, hard to stop while reading because of the great flow, the natural development between Jamie and Tyler. From becoming a random chat romance to a solid relationship, first a long distance one.

Jamie is several times struggling with his feelings for Tyler, not that he doesn’t like him, but he is scared to commit to other, is scared to let his barriers down. I especially loved the vulnerability Jamie is showing and how he is using his make-up as a shield, as his mask to hide his physical (mostly in the past) and mental bruises, how he tries not to show his flaws, his (in his opinion) “ugly” parts. And I loved how Tyler is looking all behind this and supports him loves him for himself.

Total recommendation, 5 out of 5 stars for this. I dearly loved Jamie and Tyler. :3

Blurb

Jamie “Roxy” Albright has one great love in his life and room for no other. He lives and breathes makeup. Men are nothing more than temporary distractions and romance… well, that isn’t worth his time. With a burgeoning career as a YouTube makeup artist opening doors to never before dreamed of opportunities, time isn’t something Jamie has and distractions aren’t something he can afford.

Instagram model and shirtless wonder Tyler Jackson is quickly falling for elusive Jamie. How it went from a seemingly innocent message to feelings, he’ll never know. Their chemistry is instant and fiery hot, and Tyler’s never been that good at self control. The challenges are endless, though. There’s Jamie’s walls to break through and a country worth of space between them. And just when things are starting to look up, life throws a wrench in the works.
