I don’t lie when I say I was waiting for this novella since this couple was hinted in previously books in the series. Sometimes sapphic content (or wlw content in general) is only hinted but not executed in MM dominated series; I was totally thrilled when I heard that these amazing women got their own book, telling their tragic love story but with a HEA (of course ;)).
True to the other books in the series the novella is hot and sexy, sometimes sweet and mellow but overall it doesn’t shy away from the graphic descriptions, the aggressive, violent behaviour by some of the (antagonistic) wolf shifters and their feral nature overall.
I love the soul mate, bonding topic in all of Annabelle Jacob’s books and how the author creates a universe, character we know from other of the books have their reappearance but this novella can be read as a standalone if you are for example only looking for a hot mating FF shifter novella.
The characters are well fleshed out and balanced that I always had the feeing they are real, no carbon copies of other characters written by the author. Their flaws, their strength it’s all well displayed and excuted.
You really can feel the need to be with each other, bonded by fate but always consent in the decision how much they want to let this decide their future life; the way how nothing is forced – only directed – is what makes these books so amazing.
I was so thrilled by this book, Annabelle Jacobs knows how to write sensual scenes between two women as marvelous as she does with her male characters and it’s truly one sapphic novella you should add to your collection if you love paranormal romance shifter stories (and don’t mind a few mentionings of other couples and characters from the other books. :))
