Two words instantly come in my mind when I resume my thoughts about this book: funny & hilarious.

Gemini Keeps Capricorn is full of charming characters and I can wholeheartedly say that I loved the chemistry between Wesley & Lloyd. Gosh, they are so perfect together and you can either love Wesley or you can be annoyed by him. I was going for the first. 😀

The whole concept is maybe not new, especially if you’ve read books by Anyta Sunday so far, but why change a “recipe” and promise of a good story when it works, right? 😉 In this case everything was fitting and next to the building chemistry between Lloyd and Wesley, the book was full of family moments. Not only that Wesley is taking care of a matter relating his younger brother, both young men are dealing with their stressed, tense relationship with their mother. But we also have family bondings where people aren’t actually related. We see the whole community and group of unique, sometimes quirky characters around the dorm, Wesley and Lloyd are living, and where Lloyd is the RA (resident assistant), so in charge that everything is going okay on the floor. And let’s say he has a lot to do when Wesley is involved. 😉

Anyta Sunday wouldn’t be Anyta Sunday when her books weren’t full of hot, but really slow burn scenes. And I stress this out, because this time we have to wait almost until the very end to see the boys get their happy end after. 🙂 The way to it is totally worth the stress the reader is “enduring”. 😀 Let’s say the book is a nice roller coaster ride, spiked with funny scenes which made your belly hurt several times as well as let you shake your head about Wesley being slow on the uptake regarding Lloyd. :3

What I also loved – and I have to point it out – is the representation of an Asian main character. As you can see on the cover, it’s not only one of the MCs, Wesley is also chosen for the cover grpahics, and I am so thrilled to see this. Honestly I have to say Anyta Sunday doesn’t try to include a culture she doesn’t know and there aren’t any inproper cultural includings or scenes where his heritage and culture is used as a explanation or to fetishize the character. In fact his appearence is mentioned but beyond that we have little scenes with his or his family’s Japanese background.

I highlighted a lot of funny, sweet and emotional scenes in this book and one of the reasons why the book is so great is because of the awesome connection of the characters. Gemini Keeps Capricorn can read as a stand alone but with Jamie & Theo from Leo Loves Aries there are reappearing characters, which made me smile. 🙂

Full of funny, quirky characters who can’t be other than loved by the reader and with a great development in the relationship between the two main characters Gemini Keeps Capricorn totally wins my heart.  5 out of 5 stars for this.

Sometimes, one stubborn Capricorn is all it takes…to drive Wesley Hidaka to crazy, flirtatious lengths.

Wesley loves annoying his RA Lloyd Reynolds. He just can’t help it. Lloyd is focused, decisive, grounded. He has this amusing ability to follow rules.

Of course Wesley wants Lloyd to break one…or three hundred.

Sometimes, one diabolically grinning Gemini is all it takes…to have Lloyd laying down the law and marching Wesley straight back to his dorm room.

It doesn’t stop Wesley teasing again. And again. And again…

But damn. Lloyd doesn’t crack easily. He’s full of principles. He’s unshakable.

He’s the perfect friend to have when Wesley needs help. Like with his truant brother and his old high school principal.

Sometimes, one little lie is all it takes… to find Wesley fake-engaged to his off-limits RA.

What can he say? It seemed like a good idea in the moment . . .

“Gemini Keeps Capricorn” serves up a double shot of cluelessness, with a side of rock’n’roll and topped with a slow burn HEA. It can be read as a standalone.

Excerpt # 1

Wesley saw Lloyd early in the morning, all right. One in the morning.

He stumbled into Lloyd’s room after three solid hours of dancing. He was hot and bothered, and his jeans felt shrink-wrapped onto him. “What are you doing up?” Wesley kicked off his shoes, popped open the top button of his jeans and dove onto Lloyd’s bed.

“Studying. You should try it sometime.”

Wesley laughed. “Do you usually study in such romantic lighting? And half naked?” Wesley flipped onto his side and leered. “Lloyd, what exactly are you studying?”

Lloyd looked down at his singlet and boxers, then over at the desk lamp, turned in against the wall. He swiveled on his chair to face him. “I assure you it’s not as exciting as it should be on a Friday night.”

“The night is still young. I won’t distract you for too long.”

“I doubt that.”

Excerpt # 2

“We can’t have coffee. We have to leave. Now.”

“What do you mean, we can’t have coffee?” Lloyd sounded incredulous, as though Wesley had casually suggested castration as an alternative to daily washing.

Wesley tugged Lloyd out of the line they’d been waiting in for ten minutes. “I’m the one up at nine in the morning with a grumpy RA. If anyone needs coffee, it’s me.” He glanced across the room at a top-button-collared man weaving his way in their direction. “But it has to wait.”

“Wesley? Right now? I legitimately fear for your life.”

“I’ll get us coffee later. More than one. My treat.”

Lloyd gave up resisting, and they almost escaped the bustling café.

“Young Mister Hidaka!”

Wesley swallowed a groan and clutched Lloyd’s forearm as he turned them around to face his childhood pastor. Pastor Geoff had a gray beard, rim-free glasses, and a condescending regard—like usual.

“Your mother prays every week that you come back home.” Pastor Geoff registered Lloyd’s presence, and his face shadowed. “You’ve lost your way, son.”

That was about as much as Wesley would put up with. “I am very sure of my way, and I’ll keep walking it. In fact, I’m going to walk it right now. Vigorously. With my fiancé.”

Wesley steered Lloyd out the door, leaving the pastor gaping behind them. He didn’t stop walking or let go until they were safely ducking down behind Lloyd’s car. Well, Wesley was ducking down. Lloyd was staring at him with disbelief and amusement—and something else.

“Has he stopped watching us yet?” Wesley asked, noticing how close his face was to Lloyd’s crotch. Lloyd jerked and bumped against the car door.

Wesley took a moment to absorb Lloyd’s reaction, and a smile quivered at his lips. He straightened, keeping barely an inch between them.

Lloyd caught his elbow and helped him along, muttering under his breath. “I really need coffee.”

“Is that what they’re calling it these days?”

Lloyd closed his eyes and took a calming breath, then opened the passenger door. “Get in, flirtster.”

Wesley smirked, and jumped in.
