Lovely readers, after I’ve presented you my release blitz post yesterday of Annabeth Albert’s Wheels Up I want now share my review with you.
Meet Dustin, Dylan’s brother (and hero of At Attention), and Wes and how they are becoming a couple… after their online talks and now meeting in person. ❤ Hot and steamy, with a bit kink. 😉
The post contains also a small excerpt, for longer ones, check out the release day post (there is also a giveaway).

Wheels Up by Annabeth Albert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
*~~*ARC kindly provided by the author to me in exchange for an honest review *~~*
Normally I am totally eager and can’t wait to read a new Annabeth Albert book. But unfortunately this book was – for me – the weakest in the series, although it is critizising it on a very high level. 🙂
I wasn’t sure at first if I had to put the book in the “it’s not you, it’s me category” because the start was a bit bumpy for me; I couldn’t instantly connect with Wes and Dustin. But not only that, I forgot for a short time the one line in the blurb which said it contains a little bit kink and hence I was… I can’t say annoyed but irritated by the kinky submission and dominant play the book contains. After a while I got the drive, I felt more comfortable with the erotic scenes and they were delivered pretty well. I know it’s not the author’s fault it felt unpleasant first, and I am so happy the book, when I read further, went into the direction I was hoping for.
The book is full, and I mean it FULL of tension, the danger of being captured, of being restricted for their actions, to have their jobs on the line, is the constant companion and leads to kinda dramatic scenes.
You want, so bad, a happy end for Wes and Dustin, because you really see how well these two guys fit together. They have this own dynamics, the own pace, the own agreement what they need and what they wish for and from the partner.
I really liked that we also saw a lot of insecurities. But I’ve to warn the readers that it can be feel sometimes like holding your breath a bit too long; you want to shake the guys sometimes, because a few reactions are based on unnecessary doubts and so not worth the struggle, but of course, you as the reader are the observator. And sure, without them the problems book would have been pretty fast resolved, and that would have reduce the fun in reading it. 😀
I highlighted a lot of parts of the book because although the start was a bit bumpy and parts of it show a few hiccups I really liked it and it showed two pretty different yet so fitting character. We also saw a different side from Dustin who we already knew from At Attention, the second book.
Keeping all this in mind I give the book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Still I love the second book, At Attention most.
For all those who love this book, Annabeth Albert posted a new ficlet called “I Do” yesterday in her Facebook group Annabeth’s Angels and was also sent it out via her newsletter. 🙂

Their love is forbidden, but their hearts aren’t listening to rules and regulations…
Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a twentysomething hell-raiser, he’s his SEAL team’s new XO—and a man with a secret. Or seven. He’s kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semi-anonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distraction—they’re taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time.
Petty Officer Wes Lowe has a smart mouth, a take-charge attitude and an uncanny ability for making things go boom. The life of an enlisted man isn’t always enough to satisfy him, but one wild, no-questions-asked weekend with his online love comes close. When a transfer order comes in, Wes feels ready and centered. He’ll make a good impression on his new SEAL team and keep his growing feelings for Dustin on the down low.
But as they log more time online and some very real emotions surface, Dustin and Wes struggle to pretend they’re just a harmless fling. And when his commander introduces Dustin to his team’s newest member, they’re in for the shock of a lifetime…and a crushing disappointment: their difference in ranks means even a friendship without sexual contact could end their navy careers for good.
With their hearts on the line, Dustin and Wes may not survive their next mission, let alone find a way toward a future together.
Short Excerpt
I’m not sure how much longer I can do this. Dread, sick and sharp, pierced him right in the gut. He simply wasn’t prepared for dealing with this avalanche of emotions, this overwhelming need to ensure Wes’s safety. He’d done his duty for well over a decade now, and never, not once, had he been as freaked out as he was right then. Something’s got to give.
