It’s always exciting when an established author is writing his first book in a new subgenre which is pretty packed & overflowing with loads of books about wolf shifter. I never had my doubts Jay would not deliver a great book, but at the end I was not only entertained, I was blown away. I actually ask myself: can this author write something which I don’t like? XD It seems like every book I read by Jay is a gold mine. This standalone paranormal wolf shifter book is again the proof that some authors can write anything, may it either contemporary or in this case a paranormal M/M shifter story. 🙂
Quinn and Kellan are so hot together and the moment they met, their destiny is set. Still their bonding get its needed time, they don’t rip their clothes off right from the start. In fact they both appraise each other for a while, they meet occasionally in the Quinn’s aunt’s shop where Quinn is working. But when they meet in private they can’t ignore their feelings, first the sexual tension and later the emotions behind.
The story about Quinn and how he explores his true idendity is well done, it gives the book its thrill and suspense, you have your assumptions and it’s a satisfying feeling to be right. 🙂
The subplot with an rouge wolf shifter causing trouble around the town where Quinn lives and Kellan’s pack is settling, is the right vehicle, the right setting for the amazing story. The characters have their depth although it’s a stand alone, they have their unique traits, stand out and you like some more than the other. It’s a pity you have to say goodbye to them.
The bonding between Quinn and Kellan is super sexy, they can’t deny their passion for each other and Jay Northcote delivers hot scenes but combined with tenderness and deep emotions sweling under.
If you want to read a solid shifter series with a great subplot, thrilling twists and turns of events and great, developed character who behave indepentent yet overwhelm you with their charm, you want to pick up this book. 5 out of 5 stars for this. I have the feeling, it doesn’t matter what subgenre Jay writes about it always becomes a great book at the end. 🙂

Mate, family, pack, home… can Quinn and Kellan have it all?
Quinn grew up feeling out of place in the small town he calls home. Yearning for something he can’t name, he’s always felt different but never known why.
Kellan is part of a nomadic shifter pack. When they set up camp in the woods near Quinn’s town, the humans are unwelcoming and suspicious of the newcomers. The moment Kellan catches sight—and scent—of Quinn, he knows Quinn is special. But for the first time in his life, Kellan can’t trust his instincts. Quinn is human, and Kellan is a wolf shifter, so how can they ever be mates?
Their bond is instant and exhilarating. It breaks Quinn’s heart to know their relationship can only be temporary. Love isn’t enough when pack law forbids shifters to mate with humans. Tension explodes between pack and humans, and when Quinn discovers a shocking truth about himself that changes everything, he fears he’ll have to choose between the only life he’s ever known and the man he loves.
