Some live on memories…

Almost dying during a pack uprising has a way of shaking things up. I’m no longer Mr. Laid Back now that there’s an itch under my skin I can’t scratch.

On a volunteer mission that goes beyond the walls of our compound, we enter the territory of a pack long thought dead, and find ourselves on the business end of their spears.

What I’m not prepared for is what I find within their walls—The one shifter I never thought I’d see alive, the one I’d mourned twice, the one I’d always loved. He is alive, and if I have anything to do with it, he’ll stay that way. But he’s got secrets, and exposing them could lead us to an enemy worse than the bloodthirsty undead shifters wanting to kill us all…

This book and its blurb and therefore this review contain spoiler and it is necessary to read the first book first.

The events from book one continue and Bay is on his mission to get more information about the remaining member of the Whitethroat pack, Reese – alpha Dare’s True Mate –  and his brother and sister Jude and Selene come from. On his mission he can’t believe he finds Nash, his love when he was younger, who suddenly disappeared and everybody thought he was dead.

The book is full of suspence and it’s not exaggeration when I say a hot, smoking page- turner.

Bay is mourning for such a long time, he is devastated when he have to deal with the thought he lost his love of his live, so his emotions are in a total loop when he reunite with Nash. At a place he never had imagine.

But Nash isn’t the guy he was before. Years and years in torture and imprissioned formed him to a different guy. He doesn’t feel worth of loving, and he is hiding a dark secret, one Bay would crush. And he tries his best to hide this… but is he really able to? And can both guys reunite after such long time?

Megan Erickson build with the second book in the series a solid continuation of the events and the way how the parts of the first book are now revealed and put together is beyond awesome. You can really feel the character’s pain, the torture and the suffering. But you have also the deep feelings for each other. Nash and Bay are finally reunited, the love capable from the first moment, the sensation is there, and wow, this you can really say it is really smoking hot.
Megan Erickson doesn’t limit herself and creates sex scenes which burnt almost a hole in my e-reader. 😉 Fitting to the nature of what the character are – wolf shapeshifter – the interactions are animalistic, raw, wild and full of power and determination but also filled with deep emotions. Domination and submission are there but not in a kinky, BDSM way, it’s more that power is accepted and belongs to the wolfish nature. Hot. ❤

The book is written in third person, has a dual POV and devided in three parts (or four if you count the epilogue as one). And it switched between Bay and Nash. This gives you a great insight and makes the character development really prominent.  Right at the best fitting time, Megan switches the POV and you are eager to keep reading. 😉

Megan Erickson proves she is able to continue a thrilling story in the second book in her series and we can expect a lot of new revealings. I’m not sure how many books we can expect because there is so much which can be put into a story, so many great couples and so many possibilities of mating them – and not only M/M. 😉 The next hint of with mating we can expect was given in the epilogue for the very attentive reader (and the author already confirmed it in her facebook group). 😉 I can only say: I am really excited. ❤

5 out of 5 solid stars for this. Different than the first book, with a LOT of unexpected events and revealings and a total page-turner. Keep going, Megan, this is hot smoking stuff. ❤

Megan Erickson is a USA Today bestselling author of romance that sizzles. Her books have a touch of nerd, a dash of humor, and always have a happily ever after. A former journalist, she switched to fiction when she decided she liked writing her own endings better.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her very own nerdy husband and two kids. Although rather fun-sized, she’s been told she has a full-sized personality. When Megan isn’t writing, she’s either lounging with her two cats named after John Hughes characters or… thinking about writing.
