I’ve given up on love.
Well, there it is, another failed relationship. And right before Christmas time, too. After breaking up with my boyfriend, the only thing I want to do is get out of town and have some time to myself. Thankfully, my best friend Jake has a cabin that I can go to for the weekend.
Except that Jake forgot that the cabin already has been booked for the weekend. So I’m pretty surprised when I go up there and find Chris relaxing in the cabin. And I drove four hours to get here! Thankfully, Chris is nice enough to let me stay the night so I don’t have to drive home in bad weather.
But when I wake up the next morning and we’re completely snowed in, one night together turns into the entire weekend and we get to know each other a lot better than I originally intended. And it doesn’t take long for me to realise I’m crushing on him hard.
This isn’t the vacation I planned for.
Honestly, I was happy when James came up to the cabin unexpectedly. I’d been having a pretty boring vacation and somebody else around definitely kept things more interesting.
Of course, I wasn’t expecting us to get snowed in together. But if you have to be locked in a cabin with another person, this is the guy to do with it. He’s smart, funny, warm, and very cute. He seems a little hesitant to admit he likes me too, but that won’t stop me from pursuing something with him.
I have the feeling that this is the start to something more. I know it’s soon, but he really seems like the guy for me.
This standalone MM romance is currently on sale for .99 and complete with HEA ending and bonus material from two of my other books!
Oh well, I am a bit divided how I like the writing by the author. Sometimes they are good for a few hours of a pleasant read but then… nothing more or outstanding…
This book had editorial mistakes, so many this time I had hard times to ignore them and I confess I was a bit annoyed by them. This is a bit sad.
The character behaved a bit rushed and I am not sure, but the topic was only good enough for a pleasant read for a few hours. But not overly remarkable. It is a shame because the blurb sounded really great…
I had a few problems in connecting to the character though they weren’t unlikable or annoying. There were funny scenes as well as steamy ones but the rush of emotions building up was a bit unrealistic even when I normally like insta-love.
I am also a bit sad that bonus scenes like for this story are only provided as newsletter subscriptions. With the annoying fact that the book stops really fast and around ~60% you feel a little bit cheated… I honestly expect to get a whole book, not only two thirds of it and the rest is “bonus” contenct which is in fact only promo for the other books. A bit of an excerpt is okay, a bit of promotion for other books is okay but please, then add the “bonus” chapter which often only are continuations after the end of the book to the edition.
Also it would be great if there would be taken more quality time to go through the edits and formatting parts… This way there can be avoid a lot of mistakes…
I give this book 3.5 stars out of 5.
And sorry for not having so much to say to the content.
