Top Ten Tuesday #9: Movie Editon – Top 10 Movies from Japan (anime, dorama) (november 15th)

In this TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) meme which is hosted weekly with the utmost grace by The Broke and the Bookish I list Top Ten Movies. This time I decide to list 10 from Japan, these can either be anime or dorama (live-action movies).

  • Howl’s Moving Castle (Howl no Ugoku Shiro)
I am so fond of this Ghibli film. ❤ I love the topic and I love the animation. The music is at its best. ❤ Just a great movie, one I can watch over and over again. Also I love the aspect that a beautiful young lady is bewitched into an old woman, so, the outside is ugly, the inner core is still beautiful. A bit like a reversed Beauty and the Beast concept. And also there is the topic with Hauro (Howl), who is also ugly in his bird creature but still insight the handsome prince, but also a bit vain sometimes. Really, I could write a lot about the movie. I just say: watch it ❤
There is also a book the movie is based on: Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

  • Kiki’s Delivery Service (Majo no Takkyubin)
Ah, again a great movie, a really feel good one. 🙂 I love the little witch and her cat Jiji. 😀 Also this movie has a great music. Ghibli is the japanese Disney and you are always captured. ❤ Also based on a novel, with the same name by Eiko Kadono

  • Heavenly Forest (Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru)
Oh Gosh, this movie *^* ❤ I cried so hard. I was captured from the first minute and it was so heart clenching… The movie’s theme song Renai Shashin is also a piece of art. ❤

  • Like Father like Son (soshite chichi ni naru)
This was such a faszinating movie, about family bonds and what it means to be “a family”. I cried so many times while watching and it has a place in my heart. If I remember correctly the movie is available on amazon prime video. 🙂

  • Norwegian Wood (Norway no Mori)
I like this movie because of its great cast. Also the story was good but sometimes – I admit – you are confused. It is also based on the same titled book by Haruki Murakami.

  • Solanin
This movie is based on a manga and I was really impressed by the topic. Wonderful movie about the hard parts of life, the struggles and dispair. But also about love, friendship and the will to grow and the will to live although it’s hard to handle.
I cried while listening to the last song.

  • Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop)
This movie was so sweet and funny. 🙂 Also based on a manga. Movies with kids are always a delight. Beautiful. *.* Sweet, heartwarming. Absolutely adorable. ❤

  • Love Com
Oh, this is a hilarious, funny movie. XD I laughed so hard while watching. The topic is sweet with the different sizes, especially because the heroine is the bigger one. xD So sweet, charming character. I really loved this movie based on the same titled manga. 🙂

  • Crows Zero I + Crows Zero II
I really can’t devide the two movies, so I do a double Great. I liked it really much. Its great to see the different types of acting. Oguri and the other boys surprised me!
And the movie has so many great looking guys. (*≧▽≦)

  • Thermae Romae
This movie cracked me so up. 😀 😀 XD Right from the start you can’t stop laughing. Really, it is so beyond everything. XDD
The idea of an acient roman who is traveling to the modern Japan without his will is so exotic yet so full of funny moments. XDD

What are your ten movies? Maybe to a special topic? Or – like me – from japan? 🙂 If you like, tell me. 🙂
