“I’m not that same kid anymore, Adrian. I’m a grown ass man that knows what he wants”
Tristan Cole made a mistake. He thought he could have his happily-ever-after with his best friend and soon to be partner in the FBI. He underestimated how much of an effect shame could have on a person. Years later, Tristan finds himself in trouble again when a car accident causes the drug kingpin he was after to slip through his fingers.
“I can give myself to you in ways I only dreamed about.”
Adrian Hawk has been running his whole life. Being raised under the shadow of a highly religious father meant his feelings for other men had to be buried deep in his soul. The shame of his passion caused him to push Tristan away, the one man who could make him truly complete.
“I’ve got you covered.”
Tristan and Adrian find themselves thrown together to stop the King Cartel before they pull off a terrorist attack on US soil. Time is of the essence, so when old feelings start to resurface, both of them must face their past before it becomes a distraction. Can they manage to get over their old scars in time or will their feelings cost them both more than they could have ever imagined?
The plot itself sounded great and I had a great read, nothing against it but… a few aspects were a bit bumpy… The two agents should be really good as they were described but… they lacked of really genious actions… For example the beginning was… slighly dilitant and they blow up their cover. xD They were great at some action, yeah, and sexy yeah, but… if you expect a perfect story about two agents you have to reduce your expectations. Also the way they both were rescued… Remembering this makes me giggle. 😀
Anyway the book in general was great, I really enjoyed it when I fade the name aspects out. 🙂 The two guys were sexy together, steamy sex was shown and emotions were running deep. Very hot. ❤
The prologue was really heavy to read. The unsecurity Adrian feel is an aspect which weights heavy on his shoulders, the way he reacted towards Tristan is as hurtful to read as it must be for Tristan… You have so much sympathy for him and you are a bit angry about Adrian, at least I was… I could also better connect with Tristan… maybe because he was a bit warmer than Adrian…
The reason for the seperation though is… a bit stupid but understandable… Adrian can’t do anything against it and… left. Also he endured a lot of aweful things… no wonder he shuts down and tried to seperate from his good friend.
The reunion is as emotional as expected, the emotions are there, palpable and mutal.
Of course this book has a HEA and it is sweet, maybe a bit too cheesy for the one or another. 😉 I liked it and despite a few minor things the book got my 5 stars.
Also both men are charming and sexy, eyecandy to read so to say. 🙂

First Down by Max Walker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Sean Drake is a closeted college football player coming up on the most important year of his life. He’s been the star quarterback at the University of Florida for three years in a row and now he was facing bright NFL prospects. All he needed to do was stay focused on the game and come out a winner. Things get harder when Sean starts being stalked by a crazy fan and finds their advances only getting bolder and more threatening.
Connor Hawk works as a bodyguard for an exclusive agency in Los Angeles. He lives life day to day, protecting celebrities and politicians for a paycheck and then finding a random guy to ease the pressure over a night. He resigned himself to living a lonely life caring only about his work. That all changes when he gets flown to Gainesville for an assignment that alters his future in the blink of an eye.
When Connor and Sean meet, their chemistry is undeniable. Both of the men must come to terms with feelings they thought they were never destined to have. Meanwhile, the stalker becomes more persistent and ends up doing something unimaginable. Now, Sean is faced with a choice that could potentially push him out of the closest in the worst way possible or he could sacrifice the one person that ever made him feel complete.

FIRST DOWN is a hot and steamy, gay romance novel with no cliffhangers. It is the second book in The Guardian series but can be read as a standalone.
You could think football is a bit boring to read about because of the often use of the topic but… no, I can read a lot of those stories without being bored. The interesting part was that Sean, the famous football player, is in need of a bodyguard – Connor.
Sean is a really charming guy, sexy as hell but also scared to come out of the closet – and with a reason. As a sportsman he have to show a certain kind of behaviour, being gay is out of question. The trouble he had to go through are good described I felt a bit more character development than in the first book, Cover me. Sean and Conner had also a slighty better chemistry.
Though it had a thrilling plot it was a bit funny to read in which problems Sean was, the reveal of the stalker was… a bit hilarious… Sorry to say. 😀
Again with hot steamy sex, a good chemistry and witty character who were lovable. I really enjoyed this and the mixture of sports topic, thrilling elements with the stalker and the emotional bonding between Sean and Conner it was a great read.
