Bastien isn’t used to bad reviews. His French restaurant is the toast of the town, and when a well-known critic insults it, he’s left off-kilter. Luckily for him he’s found a distraction. He’s just met an attractive writer at his niece’s school bake sale. He’s into food, into Bastien and the touch of kink they share, and there’s a chemistry between them that might make the perfect recipe.

James isn’t expecting to meet a good-looking French chef at a bake sale, but he’s not going to let the chance slide. It comes as a surprise when the chef turns out to be the owner of a place he knows—and has reviewed—and it puts James in a sticky situation. So he might have to omit some pertinent information to make it work… at least for now.

I never heard of the author before and so it was an author debut for me. The plot sounded interesting and I admit I’m fond of stories where people cook or bake something. :3

From the first pages on I was hocked and I had to laugh out so much because of the charme Bastien and James had.

Both guys are totally charming, are two different character yet fitting so well together.
Of course – because to have a bit suspense in it – there was the dramaesque ending. It was clear for the reader from the beginning that James’ hiding of his knowledge about Bastien couldn’t go well. And it was a hard ride – for both of them.

What I also really loved about the book were the strong minor character. Due to the series name (The Carlisles) it is clear we have a family bond – a real strong actually.  It is nice to see James interact with his four brothers but also the few spouses, children or other beloved ones (to just make it clear: not every brother has his significant other yet).

On Bastien’s side there is also a strong bond to his cooking/serving team and it is really refreshing to see a family like behaviour between him and his staff. 🙂 It is also lovely to see them interact in a french manner because of their homecountry. 🙂 The mixture of the “cultrures” so to say is really fitting. 🙂

I was astonshished by the light kinky sex scenes, but it was hot as hell. There was a long time a tippy toeing around each other’s feelings so the final “act” was like a break trough. 🙂 The tension was heated up until then. I admit it was a pity the story about Bastien and James wasn’t longer but the reappearance in the second book was nice. But more to it in a few moments. 🙂

All in all the first book was a great prelude to the whole series, the character have a great development and I miss only really small things. But if these aspects are in the next books I am happy. 🙂

Highly recommended, grab it asap if you love plots like these with a bit drama in the middle and the end but with a true and sweet HEA.

A Carlisles novel

Jackson Carlisle has rotten luck with men and women, and after an especially bad situation, he takes a step back from romance. But with a two-week family reunion in Hawaii looming, his mom is determined to set him up with one of the sweet singles she knows would be perfect for him. A normal person would tell her no and be done with it. Instead, Jackson tells her he has a boyfriend. The only problem? He doesn’t.

Aaron Wilkes is an escort. He’s a little surprised when a friend’s girlfriend hires him to date her brother, but he’s had stranger jobs. Jackson is cute, and he thinks a fling with Aaron might be just the kind of no-strings-attached fun he needs to get over his dry spell. As they explore the islands together, their carefully laid plans begin to get away from them. Feelings aren’t supposed to come into play, but that shouldn’t be a problem. After all, you can’t fall in love in two weeks….

I loved this novel a bit more than the first one – which was already great.

I admit I have lost my heart the moment I read about Jackson’s bad luck with his dates. He is really to pitty and you only want to hug and cuddle him closely.

The idea of helping him with an escort to prevent the nasty questioning of his mother let me laugh viciously and a bit mean. 😀 :3 I have a great joy to read stories with this plot because I know how they end but it’s the journey is the reward. I am a soft heart and so I KNOW there can’t be anything than a HEA. :3

I was as amused several times as I was reading the first book, maybe even more because of the hilarious actions the character had to go through during their “vacation”.
You can truly agree with the statement of one of the character – the boyfriend of James’ and Jackson’s sister: the whole family is crazy. XD

Again a great book with… yeah, slight drama but I guess without it wouldn’t have the necessary spice.

Great sex scenes and sensual tension rising during the whole novel. Also with sweet emotions which clench your hearts. Just what I love. ❤

5 out of 5 stars.

Can’t wait to read the next book – Checking it Twice – , with one of the twins, Dorian, who finds his significant other. ❤
