In this TTT (Top Ten Tuesday) meme which is hosted weekly with the utmost grace by The Broke and the Bookish I list my Top 15 favorite songs I connect – more or less to books I’ve read. 😉 Sometimes they are fitting because of the song’s meaning, sometimes they only were playing while reading and I feel connected to them.
I couldn’t reduce to 10 so I chose 15 songs. Due not to do any copyright infringement I’ll only post the artist and the song name. You have to look up the songs by yourself. 🙂
- Pat Benatar – Love is a Battlefield –
Him & Us by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy
With the slight youthful topic of the lyrics it fits for me great for the story about the two young guys who explore their first emotions. ❤ - Shawn Mendes – Stitches –
Finding North by Carmen Jenner
Raw, torn open, with a lot of angst. The song fits very well and captures the emotions of the book.
- Franz Liszt – La Lugubre Gondola No. 1 (1882) –
Stygian by Santino Hassell
Was actually mentioned in the book itself so I gave it a credit. Totally intriguing and a bit intimidating while listening to it around 3 am.
- The Irrepressibles – Arrow –
Imperfect Harmony by Jay Northcote
Although a lot of songs were named in the book this is quite fitting because of the tone the song has. Not exactly the lyrics. 😉 But the video by Matthew Richardson Circus Arts includes a circle which I connect to the book… So it’s more the visuals. 🙂
- Pride & Prejudice OST – A Postcard to Henry Purchell-
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
What should I say… A song from the OST is of course fitting to the book. xD Love this song most and it captures perfectly the most important scene in the book and the movie…
- Years & Years – Desire –
Sunset Park by Santino Hassell
The book is full of desire so what song is best fitting? Right, a song called “Desire”. ❤ I also love the question: Is it desire or love that I feeling for you? Totally accurate question to the emotions by Raymond or David. 😉
- Simon Curtis – Flesh –
His Boy by Bink Cummings & the Collars & Cuffs series by K.C. Wells
This song reminds me of any BDSM topic. A person in the lyrics who love to be spanked, hurt in any particular way he/she likes.
- Chemistry – It takes two –
Second to None by Felice Stevens
I admit its more because of the album’s name why I chose this song but the tune is fitting and the lyics as well. 🙂
- Shinedown – Call me –
Full Domain by Kindle Alexander
Was mentioned by the author itself as “theme song”. So, of course it’s fitting. 🙂
- Wilson Philips – You’re in love –
Again by Sierra Riley
The bittersweet part of the song at the beginning is perfect to the desperation the character have to go through in this book. Where the song has a bad ending the book have its HEA. ❤
- Paramore – Proof –
Waiting for Clark by Annabeth Albert
The tune of Paramore’s song is a bit nerdy so it fits to the whole story itself. And because of the cosplay/costume topic I chose this song because the lyrics also talk about men and woman in the refrain.
- Bloc Party – We were lovers –
In These Words by Guilt Pleasure
It is really great connected to a particular scene in the book but with the whole universe around even the song title is fitting.
- Bloc Party – Where is Home –
Rattlesnake by Kim Fielding
Since it’s the books topic the song is fitting best. No furher comments. Finding home, searching for a home. The song questions this. 🙂
- Fahrenhaidt – Wildfire –
If Seas catch fire by L.A. Witt
Yeah, again a song I chose because of the title but it’s quite accurate in describing the whole strengh and chemistry between the character. - Fink – Looking Too Closely –
Noah by Cara Dee
The hurt and pain in the song captures the same emotions you have while reading and the character have to go through… It’s also about selfdestruction in a way so it’s perfect for the book.
Bonus Song: Eli Lieb & Brandon Skeie – Pulse
Dedicated to the victims of the night at the Pulse nightclub… This song is fitting to every gay romance book…
Do you have a theme song for books? Are you listening to songs while reading? Tell me what you think about the topic itself and if tracklist by author’s let you search the songs or not. 🙂 Personally I love to have a song connected to a book and vice versa. 🙂
